The pilots are intermediate files which assure compatibility between the computer and the material devices. The update of the pilots allows to improve the performances of every device and sometimes to resolve some problems. |
But first of all updated, accomplish a point of restoration by security (see
System Restore) in case a problem would be met.
Then it is necessary to search which device to update and to note its references (model, producer). For it, use:
Devices Manager. Double-click the device and go to the new window, the 'General ' tab.
To know version and date of your pilot, go to the tab ' pilot'
Then there are several methods to update the equipment:
- In the administrator de Périphériques, double-click the concerned equipment. In the new window, go to the tab 'Pilote ' and click on 'Updating the pilot'. A helper will ask you to instal a CD, a diskette or to link you to Windows Update.
- Where use Windows Update (see: Keeping your computer up-to-date). A pilot will be is possible be offered for your equipment.
- Otherwise make a research on the site: All drivers or on the site of the constructor of your device as Drivers Nvidia, Drivers ATI for the graphic cards. You will be able to download a practicable whom, once thrown, will instal the pilot.
It is possible that after the update of a pilot, the equipment does not work any more correctly or what another problem appears.
If it is case, several solutions of give you:
- At first, you can search a more recent pilot. Prove that you well have downloaded a recent version and that this one corresponds well to your operating system and to the model of the device.
- Otherwise, if you performed a point of restoration. Restore your computer in previous date. In that way, you will come back to the previous version of the pilot. See: System Restore.
- Finally, if problem is still not resolved, go to the administrator de Périphériques. (see: Devices Manager). Double-click 'Pilote ' the concerned device and in the tab, click on 'Returning to version previous'.
