To know information on his equipment or to prove his good functioning, it is necessary to call to the administrator of devices. He allows to prove that the pilots are up to date, that devices work correctly... |
Open the Control panel (Start Control panel/). Under Windows XP, click to the left on 'Toppling over towards classical display' if it is not already made.
Double-click 'System ' the icon. Go then to the 'Material ' tab.
Click on 'Administrator of devices'.
A new window is displayed. It regroups all equipment divided into several categories (graphic Card, Audio, peripheral Controllers system). In 'Display ', it is possible to change this regrouping (By Type, Connection...)
If a device met a problem, a special symbol is in front of its name in the list.
By double-clicking an element, its detailed information is shown. There are always 3 following tabs: 'General ', 'Pilot ' and 'Details '. Then there can be information specific for the device as for a hard disk, a graphic card...
In the 'General ' tab, it is possible to see the state of the device, his site, the producer... As regards the pilots see:
Update your drivers.
To uninstall a device, it is enough to make a right click on the concerned equipment and to choose: "'Uninstall"
If you want to have a general survey and more simplified by the installed equipment, go to Starting / Assistant and Support.
Click on the category: 'Tools ' then on 'Information on my computer'. Choose 'Search information concerning the equipment installed on this computer'.
The main equipment of the computer is shown accompanied with data as the producer, the model, the pilot and with other properties...
