Symphobia is a bank of rather atypical sound orchestral. Indeed, rather than to offer every instrument separately with its different articulations, the philosophy of
Symphobia is opposite. Basic principle consists in saying that it differs to stack instruments recorded separately (example: violins + violas + celli + contrabasses) that to use directly a section recorded together (strings for example).
Symphobia offers therefore only groups of instruments: strings, strings + copperwares with variants without contrabasses, without tuba...
Symphobia is directly included in
Kontakt, interface is therefore classical if this reader is known. Of many
multis are available combining different groups. They are useful to have all orchestra to hand. This allows to produce a result very fast without credit to construct a
template.
The philosophy of
Symphobia is rather paid at the level of the sound return. They arrive at a rather conclusive result by using a group rather than separated articulations. However
Symphobia shows its limits rather quickly. It is not very possible to construct a whole piece with only this sounds bank. Indeed, she offers a
legato, no transition between different velocity, not enough articulations... In short used alone,
Symphobia is rather poor. It is when she is combined with other libraries such as East West Symphonic Orchestra, as she takes her value very. She brings a pad which gives a feeling of group, of total coherence.
Symphobia is therefore useful as secondary library to bring an unit while a sounds bank with articulations will bring more details and richness.
In conclusion,
Symphobia allows to produce a result rather fast thanks to
multis and offered groups. However, crossed the discovery of the tool, it is rather difficult to bring its own colour to distance itself from others.
Symphobia is too much limited in term of nuances, of articulations and of variations. She is however very useful in a context of
layering although her price is rather consequent.
